Item #13 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 17, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION REQUEST TO AWARD CONTRACT FOR THE <br />COLTON TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$50 PER INTERSECTION PER MONTH TO THE MAINTENANCE <br />FIRM OF REPUBLIC ELECTRIC, AS THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE <br />AND RESPONSIBLE BIDDER <br />DATE: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />JUNE 9, 2003 <br />On April 14, 2003 the Bid opening was held for the Citywide Traffic Signal Maintenance Contract. <br />The scope of work for this contract includes providing a routine monthly maintenance and repairs <br />to traffic signals and appurtenant devices, including lighted street name signs. The City has <br />approximately forty- five (45) signalized intersections which consists of Pre -timed, Fully Actuated - <br />Electro Mechanical and Fully Actuated - Solid State systems. This will be a two-year contract with <br />the City, with discretion, to renew the contract for an additional two (2) years. The contract will <br />meet the requirements of State Prevailing Wage. <br />The contract documents and specifications were prepared by GK & Associates and found in <br />compliance with the City of Colton standard requirements. <br />Advertisement for Public Bidding for this project began on March 11, 2003, and the Bid Opening <br />was conducted on April 14, 2003. Staff received formal proposals from four (4) Signal <br />Maintenance Firms as follows with their corresponding bid amount: <br />1. Republic Electric <br />2. Signal Maintenance, Inc. <br />3. Econolite Traffic Engineering <br />and Maintenance, Inc. <br />$ 50.00 per intersection/month <br />$ 53.61 per intersection/month <br />$ 90.00 per intersection/month <br />4. La Signal, Inc. $105.00 per intersection/month <br />
