The proposed Project <br />Area will encompass approximately 1,756 acres within the City of Colton. One of the features of this <br />Project Are� is t�at it contemplates the inclusion of approximately 16 acres of unincorporated county <br />area within �he Project P�rea. <br />On March 5, 20(D2 the Redevelopment Agency for the Colton of Colton engaged the services of GRC <br />Associates �for consulting services to effectuate the Project Area formation. <br />On January 14, 2003, the Planning Commission approved and adopted Resolution No. R-01-03 <br />selecting th� boundaries within the Survey Area for the proposed La Cadena Corridor <br />Redevelopment Project Area and approved the submittal of the Preliminary Plan to the <br />Redevelopment Agency pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33325. Subsequently, the <br />Planning Cc�mmussion has approved changes to the boundaries of the Project Area to more <br />accurately r�eflect the boundaries of the existing project areas that abut the proposed Project Area. <br />To date, fou�r community meetings have been held to discuss the proposed Project Area and to solicit <br />input from the cc�mmunity. The last two community meetings held on March 24 and 25, 2003 were <br />announced in a newsletter mailed by first class mail to all residents, tenants and property owners <br />within the Piroject Area. <br />In addition, ithe �gency is preparing the environmental documentation in accordance with the <br />California Einvironmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has completed and transmitted the Draft <br />Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to the State Clearinghouse which initiated the 45-day public <br />review period. f� public hearing is scheduled for May 27, 2003 during the regular meeting of the <br />
