Item #15
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 5, 2005
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: AMER JAKHER P.E., CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: ADOPT AND APPROVE RESOLUTION FOR STREET NAME
CHANGE OF LARCH AVENUE TO MIRACLE LANE
DATE: MARCH 29, 2005
BACKGROUND:
On September 19, 1999 City Council authorized changing the name of Larch Avenue to
Healing Waters Drive. The name change was not processed properly and County records
never reflected the new name. On May 4th 2004, City Council corrected the name
reverting it to Larch Avenue. Subsequently, a petition was received by the City from the
Church located at Larch Avenue, signed by the residents and parishioners, requesting
that the name be changed to Healing Waters or Miracle Lane. The Traffic Committee
considered the request for name change and recommends the name to be Miracle Lane.
The name change was submitted to the City Council on February 15, 2005. The Council
did not take action on the name change and instead directed staff to prepare a policy
regarding changing names of City streets. Staff has prepared a policy and it is included
with this agenda report.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
Section 5026 of the State of California Streets and Highways Code requires a resolution
of the City Council and notice provided to the Clerk of the County Board of Supervisors
and the County Surveyor to change the name of a street.
This petition has complied with the proposed street name change policy.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This project is exempt under Section 15301(f) of the California Environmental Quality Act.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Not Applicable.
