ITEM #18 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 6,2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER ��2) <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE THE AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SUPPLY OF CDBG (PROJECT #104-30105/2616) ALLEY <br />PROJECT ASPHALT MATERIAL TO VULCAN MATERIALS <br />COMPANY. <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 28,2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) Project #104-30105/2616 is part of the CIP <br />(Capital Improvement Program) Projects scheduled for construction for FY 05-06. The scope of <br />the project includes asphalt paving of the following alleys: <br />1. Johnston to Citrus Street — bet. Rancho Ave. and Alston St. 19,350 SF <br />2. Olive Pl. to Laurel St. — bet. Mt. Vernon and Holly Ave. 17,385 SF <br />3. La Cadena Dr. to 4th St. — bet. G and H St. 8,400 SF <br />4. West of 3rd St. to end — bet. K St. and Railroad 13,665 SF <br />5. North G St. to AlIgy — between Fgnyay Dr. and East G St. 7,845 SF <br />Total 66,645 SF <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />On this project, CDBG funding will be used to procure asphalt material and the City will provide <br />labor and equipment. Staff solicited prices to the following asphalt company with their <br />corresponding unit cost price quote (plant pick up price - tax included): <br />a. Vulcan Materials Company — San Bernardino Plant $ 52.80/ton <br />b. Matich Corporation - San Bernardino Plant $ 54.95/ton <br />c. All American Asphalt — did not responded <br />The estimated quantity of asphalt for the project is 800 tons in the amount of $42,240 (using <br />Vulcan's unit price). <br />
