ITEM #17 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 21, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Amer Jakher, P.E., City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE RECRUIEMENT AND RATIFICATION OF AN <br />EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF <br />MAINTENANCE WORKER I, IN THE PUBLIC SERVICES <br />DEPARTMENT, STREETS DIVISION. <br />DATE: June 13, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A single (1) Maintenance Worker III position has recently become vacant in the Streets Division of <br />the Public Services Department. To realize savings, staff is requesting to underfill this position with <br />a Maintenance Worker 1. The salary range for Maintenance Worker I is $2,482 to $3,018 per <br />month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job <br />description. If these requirements cannot be found in those candidates remaining on the existing <br />recruitment list, staff requests authorization to establish a new recruitment list. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The General Fund will be positively impacted by this recruitment as the Streets Division is <br />underfilling a budgeted position. The following accounts will experience a savings: 100-6150-6160- <br />1010 (Salaries), 100-6150-6160-1100 (Salary Related Benefits) and 100-6150-6160-1101 (Taxable <br />Benefit). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not Applicable. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Not Applicable <br />
