CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 4, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />D <br />FROM: Jeannette Olko, Electric Utility General Manager' <br />ITEM #4 <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid For Four Diesel Powered Generators and <br />Automatic Transfer Switches for the Fire Department to Bay <br />City Electric Works, Inc. in the Amount of $96,266.01 <br />DATE: <br />September 26, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the September 20, 2005 City Council Meeting, the Council approved Resolution R-122-05, <br />approving the 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant for the purchase of four diesel powered <br />generators with automatic transfer switches to be installed in all of the City's fire stations. The <br />generators will allow the fire stations and EOC to remain in operation during power outages. The <br />generators will be installed by Electric Department personnel. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Electric Utility Department solicited for formal bids by posting a Notice Inviting Bids on <br />August 23, 2005. Bid packages were mailed to seven -qualified vendors. Bid opening was held at <br />2:30 PM, September 13, 2005, at the Electric Department offices. Four bids were received, <br />however, two were returned "non-responsive" due to the lack of the required bid security. A Bid <br />Analysis is attached showing the prices, manufacturer, and delivery times quoted by the two <br />responsive bidders.
