ITEM #7 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF October 4, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Amer Jakher, P.E., City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Approval of the Recruitment and Ratification of a Full Time Position <br />for a Public Works Inspector for the Public Works Department, <br />Engineering Division. <br />DATE: September 27, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department has held its Public Works Inspector position <br />vacant for six months. The Engineering Division has temporarily been filling the needs performed by a <br />Public Works Inspector with temporary help. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The duties required of a Public Works Inspector are inherent to the Public Works Department's ability <br />to keep abreast and assure compliance of new development, business activities and contractor <br />activities which should all regularly meet City municipal code requirements. The current salary range <br />is $4,164 - $5,060. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The position has been budgeted for in the Engineering Division's 2005/2006 budget and will not have <br />a negative financial impact on the Department or the General Fund. This position is budgeted for in <br />salary and benefit accounts: 100-6150-6151-1010, 100-6150-6151-1100 and 100-6150-6151-1101. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not Applicable. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Not Applicable. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval for the recruitment and ratification of the Public Services Department's, <br />Engineering Division's, existing vacant position for a Public Works Inspector. <br />Prepared bv: Maritza Tapia — Administrative Ana <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: Ad.
