CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON AND <br />RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION <br />ADJOURNED JOINT MEETING MINUTES <br />JULY 15,1998 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Joint Regular Meeting of the City <br />Council of the City of Colton and the Recreation and Parks Commission was held on the above given <br />date at 6:47 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Gaytan and Chairperson Lucero <br />presiding. <br />CITY COUNCIL ROLL CALL: <br />Councilmembers present were Grimsby, Bennett, Cook, Hutton, Sanders, and Mayor Gaytan. Also <br />present. were City Manager Garcia, Legal Counsel Morris, and City Clerk Barrera. Councilmember <br />Chastain appeared on the dais at 6:49. <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ROLL CALL: <br />Commissioners Colunga, Rodriguez, Baden, Mitchell, and Chairperson Lucero. Absent was <br />Commissioner Correra and Commissioner Berg. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />Cynthia De la Rosa, Colton resident, request that children be transported from the Luque Center to <br />the Community Center in order to allow them full use of the swimming pool and other activities held <br />at the center. The need to appoint a Recreation Leader to provide programs for the senior citizen <br />population. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATION: <br />Community Center Proposal Presentation/Gents Or anization <br />Joe Rodriguez, President of the Board of Directors for the Gents Organization, presented a proposal <br />entitled The Gents' Junior Management Skills Program. This program would work within the <br />services provided at the Colton Community Center. <br />Mr. Rodriguez' explained briefly the primary points of the proposal which included the following: <br />Executive Summary <br />Statement of Need <br />Programs <br />• Education & Personal Development <br />• Education Crew <br />f T_ • Homework Help <br />• Reading Adventure <br />1 <br />
