i <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7I <br />8' <br />10 <br />11. <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />32 <br />�l <br />22 <br />23 <br />ORDINANCE NO, 1195 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF C OLT ON <br />REGULATING AND LICENSING SOLICITORS <br />FOR RELIGIOUS OR CHARITABLE PURPOSES <br />AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE <br />VIOLATION THEREOF <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE, CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTOh <br />Section 1: Recitals <br />The City Council expressly finds that in order to protect the citizen <br />of Colton from injury and to prevent fradulent solicitation., for religious or <br />charitable purposes, and further to prevent wrongful diversion of funds to <br />purposes other than those represented and to secure the citizens of Colton <br />against waste,, and in the interest of public safety, peace, comfort and conven- <br />ience. certain requirements are hereby established as a condition precedent <br />to any person soliciting for the aforesaid purposes in the City of Colton. <br />Section 2: Application <br />Any person seeking to make any appeal to the public collectively <br />or in groups, or to individuals for a charitable or religious purpose by <br />soliciting, collecting gifts, contributions, donations or subscriptions, or by <br />promoting or conducting any sale, bazaar, or exhibition, or by any other <br />means whatsoever, shall establish his identity, his authority to act for the <br />cause which he represents and the time and manner thereof pursuant to the <br />procedure following for the purpose of obtaining a permit from the City of <br />Colton so to do. <br />Section 3. Content of Application <br />Any person hereinafter referred to as Applicant desiring to do any <br />of the acts mentioned in Section 2 above shall file an application in the form <br />of a declaration with the Chief of Police of the City of Colton„ Such applica- <br />tion shall set forth the following information: <br />(a) The full name and address of the applicant and whether he is <br />or has been known under any other name; <br />(b) The full name and address of the person for whom he is <br />soliciting; <br />
