11 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 ORDINANCE NO. 0-12-05 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, ADDING CHAPTER 10.40 TO THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH A PREFERENTIAL PARKING PROGRAM WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 40507 authorizes the City of Colton ("City") to prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking or standing of vehicles on certain streets or highways, or portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day; and WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 40507 further authorizes the City to designate certain streets upon which preferential parking privileges are given to residents and merchants adjacent to the streets for their use and the use of their guests, under which designation said residents and merchants may be issued a permit or permits that exempt them from the prohibition or restriction of the ordinance or resolution; and WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 40507 also authorizes the City to adopt provisions that are reasonable and necessary to ensure the effectiveness of such a preferential parking program; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to enact this ordinance in order to establish a program under which preferential parking privileges are given to residents and merchants adjacent to certain streets for their use and the use of their guests. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Chapter 10.40 of the Colton Municipal Code is hereby added to read as follows: "Chapter 10.40 Preferential Parking Program Sections: 10.40.010 Definitions. 10.40.020. Designation of Preferential Parking Districts. 10.40.030. Establishment of Preferential Parking Districts and Parking Zones. 10.40.040. Requested Hearing and Required Findings. 10.40.050. Appeals. 10.40.060. Identification Required. -1-
