R-01-07 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 2007 TO FILL <br />A VACANCY OF AN ELECTIVE OFFICE <br />WHEREAS, a vacancy in the elected office of Councilmember, District 3, occurred on <br />December 5, 2006; and <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 36512 provides that vacancies in an elective <br />office may be filled by calling a special election, to be held on the next regularly established <br />election date not less than 114 days from the call of the special election; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code section 36512 and Elections Code <br />section 1000, the City Council desires to hold a special election on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, <br />for the purpose of filling the Councilmember, District 3, vacancy. <br />BE IT NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. The City Council hereby calls a special election to be held in the City of <br />Colton, California on Tuesday, June 5, 2007. <br />SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure <br />and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and <br />paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. <br />SECTION 3. The polls for the election shall be open at 7:00 o'clock a.m. of the day <br />of the election and shall remain open continuously from that time until 8:00 o'clock p.m. of <br />the same day when the polls shall be closed. <br />SECTION 4. In all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be held <br />and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. <br />SECTION 5. Notice of the time and place of the holding of the election is given and <br />the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the <br />election in time, form and manner as required by law. <br />1 <br />
