CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of August 7, 1990 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: EDMUND F. SOTELO, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Sizes of Wire to Date: July 31, 1990 <br />Cablec Corp. in the Amount of $15,692.25, <br />General Electric Supply in the Amount of $19,196-42, <br />Maydwell & Hartzell in the Amount of $48,880.83 and <br />King Wire & Cable in the Amount of $3,416.00. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Various sizes of wire and cable are ordered into the Electric Stores <br />inventory for use by the Electric Department on an as -need basis. The <br />City's Electrical Engineer estimates the quantities required for new <br />development and repair and replacement as inventories get down to a set <br />review point. <br />On July 12, 1990, General Services advertised for sealed bids for these <br />requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., July 30, 1990, in the <br />General Services office. Six bids were received and evaluated. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM <br />General Electric Supply was the low bidder on Item #4 on the Bid Analysis, <br />but their bid did not meet the City's specification. The City required <br />a steam cure process and their bid was based on a dry cure process. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The second low bid on Item #4 was received from Maydwell & Hartzell. <br />Their bid did meet the City's specification for this item. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />A Bid Analysis is attached showing price, delivery and exceptions to the <br />City's specifications. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for <br />each item and the total recommended bid award is listed at the bottom <br />for each vendor.
