Agullera`� E <br />SUBJECT: Rent Stabilization Commission Appointments <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Rent Stabilization Ordinance states that the City Council is to cre- <br />ate a Rent Stabilization Commission. The Commission will be the <br />body responsible to hear appeals and set fees. <br />The ordinance requires that the Council appoint five members in the <br />following categories: <br />• One member from the ranks of the Mobile Home Park owners <br />• One member from the ranks of the mobile home park renters <br />(and Colton citizen) <br />• Three members from the community with no ties to the mobile <br />home park owners or renters <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: <br />Staff has recruited heavily yet we have only one nominee for the <br />"owners" #position and one nominee from the "citizen' category. We <br />have four applicants for the "Renter' single position. The applica- <br />tions are attached. <br />ALTERNATIVES: R <br />In the case of the multiple applications for the "renter", the Council <br />may wish to utilize a lottery format. <br />In the case of the "citizen" the Council would either wait for more <br />nominations or could appoint the single applicant no.v (thereby creat- <br />ORIGINAL <br />reat- <br />ORfGt L PECO D1 <br />�_---------..._ <br />
