CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT For Council Meeting of August 21, 1990 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: EDMUND SOTELO, CITY MANAGER,,,,�'j,, '" SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO THE PAY AND CLASSIFICATION Date: 8-14-90 PLAN FOR SANITATION SUPERVISOR BACKGROUND Raul Arciero and the San Bernardino Public Employees Association requested a reclassification study of the position of Sanitation Leadworker. Mr. Arciero completed the Position Classification Questionnaire. The Questionnaire was reviewed by Rudy Chavez, Sanitation Superintendent and John Hutton, Public Works Director. The Superintendent and Director generally concurred with the duty statements. OF THE PROBLEM Based on the written materials and interviews with the employee and superintendent, staff found that the Sanitation Leadworker is clearly performing significantly different and more responsible duties than those described in his present job specifications. The level of duties is more comparable to those of a supervisor. Staff has prepared a new job description to include the additional duties, responsibilities and skill. Council may approve or not approve the reclassification. FINANCIAL IMPACT The new classification is recommended at salary range 29.0 in the General Unit. This range is approximately 5% above the range of the previous position. IMPACT None. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the adoption of the attached job description and salary resolution amending the Pay and Classification Plan for Sanitation Supervisor.
