Hutton, Director of Public Work /�T Award of Contract for 18 Rancho Ave, er Line Date: December 11, 1990 SU B�E`i 1 : n Replacement in the Amount of $224,146 and Lake Cadena Lift Station Remediation in the Amount of $328.800 BACKGROCJND : As part of the FY90-91 budget certain sewer improvements were approved by Council. Tbvo of these improvements were the replacement of the 18" sewer line on Rancho Ave. to the sewer plant to accoamodate growth and the upgrade of the Lake Cadena sewer lift station to ensure its continued operation for the south Colton area. On December 4. 1990 the City received 9 bids for the above projects. STATIIvIENT OF THE PF�BLIIvI: Krieger and Stewart, the City's consulting engineer for the projects, have reviewed the bids (see attached letter). The low bidder for the 18" sewer line replacer�nt is M. Grbavac Construction Co. in the bid amount of $224,146 and the low bidder for the lift station is Albert W. Davies, Inc, in the bid amount of $328,800. ALTERI�IAT I VES : None, each item has been in service for over 20 years and is beyond repairs and the ability to meet the needs for area growth. F I NAIVC IAL II�ACT : The FY90-91 budget for the 18" sewer line repiacement is $350,000, sufficient funds for this project exist. The FY9091 budget for the lift station was $85,000, however, the entire budget for lift station repairs is $775,000. The other project in the budget has not yet gone to bid, therefore, sufficient funds exist for this project. ENV I ROI�Hv1FNI'AL IIvlPAf: T: The 18" sewer line replacement will help prevent line backup to the sewer plant. The lift station upgrade will prevent backup at Lake Cadena.
