Aguilera, Director of Community Development'�,K'"G <br />SUBJECT: Adoption of Ordinance 0-15-91 amending the adoption of City Development <br />Codes to include the Uniform Housing Code, 1988 Edition <br />E <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Ordinance #0-2-90, adopted by City Council in May 1990, incorporated uniform codes N <br />applicable to building and safety to the City's Municipal Codes including the uniform, <br />building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing codes. The Uniform Housing Code, <br />designed for urban renewal, the removal of blighted structures, and the conservation of <br />repairable structures, was not adopted at that time since it is primarily applicable to issues <br />related to Code Enforcement. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />With the growth of the City's Code Enforcement program in the last two years, staff has <br />determined that the Uniform Housing Code, once adopted, can prove very useful in <br />regulating and controlling the use and occupancy, location, and maintenance of all <br />residential buildings and structures.
