SOTELO, CITY MANAGE <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT AND Date: 06-04-91 <br />ADOPTION OF BUDGET FOR SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM <br />BACKGROUND: The Personnel Department has received official <br />notification that it has been awarded $106,880 to operate a summer <br />youth program through the County Office of Career Training and <br />Development. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Through the Summer Youth Employment <br />Training Program, the Personnel Department will offer employment <br />and training for approximately 75 economically disadvantaged <br />youngsters in Colton, Grand Terrace, and the unincorporated areas <br />of San Bernardino County. To implement the program Council must <br />adopt the proposed budget and budget adjustment and authorize <br />staff to enter into an agreement with the County Office of Career <br />Training and Development. <br />ALTERNATIVES: None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT• None <br />RECOMMENDATION: It is staff's recommendation that Council adopt <br />the proposed budget and budget adjustment for the operation of a <br />summer youth employment program.
