Aguilera, Director of Community Development)# <br />SUBJECT: Adoption of Trip Reduction Budget <br />E <br />The Council may recall that the City is obligated to comply with a state mandate requiring <br />the City adopt and enforce a trip reduction plan. The City Council has adopted two plans, <br />one for the Civic Center and one for the City Yards and outlying City offices. <br />In order to begin implementing these plans, it is necessary to provide funding. The Council D <br />has previously approved a budget for the program but the necessary action to transfer <br />funds has not been taken. This is the purpose for this request, i.e. to transfer $42,000.00 <br />from contingency reserve to account numbers 01-1611 and 01-1612. <br />A <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />The other available alternatives would be to not fund the project or reduce funding. In <br />both cases, the City would most certainly be liable to fines of $25,000 per day. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the attached budget transfer form.
