CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of April 7, 1992 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: RICHARD E. ACEVEDO, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transforms o Date: March 31, 1992 <br />General Electric Supply Co. in the Amount of $12,380.47, <br />Pauwels Transformers in the Amount of $8,507.94 and <br />Utility Products in the Amount of $1,629.18 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory on an <br />as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's <br />Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and <br />replacement transformers are needed. On February 27, 1992, General <br />Services advertised for sealed bids for some of these requirements. <br />Bid opening was held at 3:30 p.m., March 24, 1992, in the General <br />Services office. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid analysis is attached <br />showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor, the recommended <br />vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid <br />award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, is a <br />Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. <br />This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful <br />lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the <br />transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor The <br />lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that bid award be made to General Electric Supply Co. <br />in the amount of $12,380.47, Pauwels Transformers in the amount of <br />$8,507.94 and Utility Products in the amount of $1,629.18. <br />Report Prepared by: Mary JZ <br />ner u r <br />CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE: <br />Attachments: ( 2 ) Bid Analysis <br />Transformer Load Loss Evaluation <br />Page 1 oft Item No. ' <br />
