Hutton, Director of Public Work4�� <br />SUBJECT: Authorization to Participate in the Santa Ana Date: December 11, 1991 <br />River Dischargers Association (SARDA) Legal <br />Services for Requlatory Compliance <br />The City of Colton is a member of the Santa Ana River Dischargers Association (SARDA) <br />and has been represented by SARDA on many occasions regarding issues before the <br />Regional Water Quality Control Board. <br />n SC1 1SS TON: <br />SARDA is now representing the City in obtaining a renewal of the National Pollution <br />Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit from the Regional Water Quality Control <br />Board. Legal services are required by SARDA in preparation of the legal documents <br />for the NPDES permit. <br />Staff has estimated the City's share for legal services at a not -to -exceed figure <br />of $30,000. SARDA is requesting Council's concurrence to retain legal services for <br />the NPDES permit. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The funds will need to be appropriated in the Water Quality Control budget for FY91-92 <br />in the amount of $30,000.00, however, the budget has not yet been adopted by Council <br />and is not anticipated to be brought before Council until January, 1992. <br />RECOMV ENDAT I ON : <br />Staff recom-nends that Council authorize the City to participate in SARDA's hiring <br />of legal counsel for obtaining an NPDES permit, and appropriate a not -to -exceed amount <br />of $30,000.00 for the project from the Water Quality Control Professional Services <br />Account #22-4040-35. <br />/lj <br />CITY ~GER'S CONCURRENC <br />Attachments: <br />Page 1 of <br />Item No. -5 <br />CENTRAL RECORDS <br />r -11,.E NO. `6k- L!-------------------- �. <br />
