BENNETT, Director <br />Department of Environmental Health Services <br />App, 1992 <br />pEna CE <br />THE CITY CLERK <br />SUBJECT: CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF COLTON FOR VEHICLE ABA ff- AND <br />REMOVAL SERVICES <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve contract with the City of Colton to provide <br />services for towing, storage, lien sales, crushing, dismantling, and tracking <br />vehicles abated from properties located within the incorporated area of the <br />City of Colton. <br />BACKGROUND: The Department of Environmental Health Services' Vehicle <br />Abatement and Removal Ordinance #3349 provides for the enforcement of the <br />provisions of city ordinances relating to abatement and removal of vehicles, <br />which allows cities to contract to have services performed by the Department <br />of Environmental Health Services. The City of Colton City Council approved <br />the adoption of the County's Ordinance #3349 and an agreement between the <br />City of Colton and the County of San Bernardino on January 8, 1992. <br />REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION: Approval by the Board of Supervisors is <br />required on all contracts and agreements. <br />REVIEW BY OTHERS: This contract has been reviewed by Mayor Frank Gonzales, <br />City of Colton; Pamela Thompson, Risk Manager; Art Gomez, Contract Compliance <br />Officer; Board of Supervisors Fifth District Staff; Susan L. Nash, Deputy <br />County Counsel on December 11, 1991; and Annette Davis, Administrative <br />Analyst. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There will be no impact to net County cost. Costs to <br />perform the services for the City of Colton under the contract provisions are <br />fully offset by funds provided through the Land Use and Tipping Fees, <br />established by County Code Section 16.0213B, effective August 25, 1988. <br />Should this service be requested by a private property owner in the City, <br />that property owner will be billed for service. <br />PRESENTER: Pamella V.
