The,fta pga`a WVchd oo pan[b�oc��o©o� CTGO Citizens for Truth in Government Organization The Honorable Mayor of Colton and City Council members, As you are aware, C T G 0 was formed as a watchdog organization to keep the Citizens of Colton informed as to the actions of City Government activities. It has come to the attention of C T G 0 of Colton, that at least two major problems exist with the Councilmanic District map as presented at the last regular Council meeting. PROBLEM ONE: The map as presented is not legal, as it does not encompass all of the City of Colton. PROBLEM TWO: After reviewing your map carefully, C T G 0 Members agree that there is some serious illegal gerri-mandering of district five and six. To eliminate this gerri-mandering, it makes much better sense for the boundry line to follow I-215 north to the north bank of the Santa Ana River at the City limits. This also helps to do away with the population imbalance and it also allows District five to control the industrial section at its north end. Therefore, the only changes we ask are as listed above: That the total City be included in the Councilmanic Districting Process and that Districts Five and Six be bordered as is suggested above. In closing, since it is common knowledge that the Ward System Committee did not hold, and is not holding, any Public Hearings as to the designated ward system boundry lines, we therefore respectfully request that either the Council instruct the Ward System Committee to hold Public Hearings for the purpose of Community input, or that the Council implement our requested changes. If the Council does not honor our requests, we will be forced to legally oppose the Ward System because of the deficiencies existing on the current map.
