JOHNSON <br />Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) FOR <br />EMPLOYEES WORKING IN TOB CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE POLICE <br />MANAGEMENT UNIT OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />BACKGROUND <br />The last Police Management Unit MOU expired on December 20, 1991. We have been in meet and confer <br />with SBPEA representatives since December 17, 1991, and have tentatively agreed to a successor MOU to be <br />in effect through December 31, 1994. The employees have ratified the agreement. To become effective, the <br />MOU must also be approved by Council. Below is a summary of the new terms of the proposed MOU. <br />1. TERM - 3 years <br />2. SALARIES - There shall be no decrease in base salary for job classifications represented by this unit <br />during the term of this MOU. If the Police Rank & File Unit receives any increase during the term of <br />this MOU, the classifications represented by this unit shall receive the average percentage increase <br />granted to the sworn job classifications represented by the Rank & File Unit, namely Police Officer, <br />Corporal and Police Sergeant; OR the same percentage increase granted to Police Sergeants, whichever <br />is greater. <br />3. HOLIDAYS - Christmas Eve and New Years Eve added as 8 hour paid holidays. <br />4. PERS RETIREMENT - during an employee's final year of employment, he/she may choose to have <br />his/her employee's contribution, sick leave and/or vacation time accrued during that year to salary on <br />a prospective basis provided PERS gives the City written confirmation that these options are still <br />available. <br />5. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE - spouse's grandparent has been added to codify past practice previously <br />approved by the City Council. <br />6. CONSOLIDATED LEAVE LANGUAGE - all relevant language from the Personnel Rules and <br />,&6„„ neo. 6 <br />
