CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting November 17, 1992 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: JOHN C. HUTTON, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORK , Date: 11/9/92 <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT TO PAUL GARDNER CORPORATION FOR <br />INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT COLTON AVENUE AND <br />FAIRVIEW AVENUE <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The intersection of Fairview and Colton Avenue is a tee <br />configuration intersection and serves as the primary access to <br />Alice Birney Elementary School. <br />At the request of the school principal and area residents, the City <br />Council directed staff to prepare a traffic impact analysis to <br />determine if the intersection of Fairview and Colton Avenue meet <br />the criteria to warrant a Traffic Signal at this intersection. <br />CONCLUSION: <br />Utilizing the criteria established by the State of California <br />Transportation department staff determined that the intersection <br />did meet at least two of the five warrants used to determine the <br />need for a signalized intersection. <br />Based upon this information council directed staff to proceed with <br />the design and bidding out of the project for the construction of <br />a signalized intersection, two bids were received and are attached. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This project was approved as part of the Cities Traffic fee fund <br />capital improvement program listed as project #5 with a estimated <br />budget of $85,000.00 <br />
