CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT 1887 � 1 Olt4 For Council Meeting of April 5, 1994 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: March 24, 1994 FROM: ANDREA DAROCA l� Interim Finance Director SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers for the Electric Department to Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $1,635.64, Utility Products in the Amount of $5,594.37 and WESCO Utility in the Amount of $11,999.04 BACKGROUND: Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement transformers are needed. On February 24, 1994, General Services posted a Notice Inviting Bids for some of these requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., March 15, 1994, in the General Services office. DISCUSSION: Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is underlined. FINANCIAL IMPACT: No financial impact. This is a normal resupply of stores inventory. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends bid award to Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $1,635.64, Utility Products in the Amount of $5,594.37 and WESCO Utility in the Amount of $11,999.04.
