RAMOS CITY <br />CLERK <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Calling Municipal Election for November 8, 1994 <br />and Requesting Consolidation with County of San Bernardino <br />Back round: <br />In May 1985, the City Council by adoption of Ordinance No. 1682, approved Consolidation of <br />its General Municipal Elections with the County of San Bernardino. <br />Discussion <br />The City's General Municipal Election is scheduled to be held November 8, 1994. Pursuant to <br />California Election Code Section 22003, et seq. the City must, prior to August 1, 1994, submit <br />a resolution to the Board of Supervisors requesting consolidation and that the County Registrar <br />of Voters be permitted to render specified services relating to the conduct of the election. Staff <br />prepared the attached resolution to meet this requirement. <br />At the June 7, 1994 Primary Election, the City of Colton voters approved the measure to <br />provide for a four year term of office for Mayor. The four term for the Office of Mayor will <br />become effective at the November 8, 1994 Election. Also at the November 8, 1994 Election, <br />District 1 will experience election by district for the first time and Districts 2 and 4 having <br />served an initial two-year short term will convert to the full term of four -years. The Nomination <br />Period for Mayor and City Council candidates will be July 18 - August 12, 1994 at 5:00 p.m. <br />1 <br />J101WW fm,4 / <br />
