ZO ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING April 22, 1974 In -accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date at 8:00 p. m., in the Council Chambers in City Hall, Mayor Huntoon presiding. ROLL CALL: Council members present were Hayes, Spragins, Rehrer, and Mayor Huntoon. Also present were City Manager Huffaker, City Attorney Hutton, and Deputy City Clerk Karratti. Absent was Councilman Gonzales and City Clerk Ramos. Proclamation: Mayor Huntoon read a Proclamation from the American Cancer Society for Cancer Crusade Bucket Brigade Day, April 25, 1974, in the City of Colton. City Manager Huffaker stated this Proclamation was received late this afternoon from Mr. French, who handled the Society's campaign last year, when one of our fire trucks was used in conjunction with the solicitation, and apparently they are requiring the same assistance this year with their campaign. Councilman Rehrer said this is a different program than than conducted by our own local chapter of the American Cancer Society, and he under stands this created a great deal of controversy and ill feelings when the Bucket Brigade people came through our community soliciting before our own local chapter had an opportunity to conduct their campaign. Mayor Huntoon felt -'the Council could not endorse both this program and that of our local chapter for the American Cancer Society. Mr. Huffaker said he would be happy to contact the president of our local chapter and Mr. French to see if some details could be worked out for a successful drive for the American Cancer Society. Mayor Huntoon stated that Mr. French had also invited him to attend a "kick-off" breakfast for the campaign on Thursday, April 25, 1974, which he would not be able to attend. Mr. Huntoon asked Councilman Rehrer to attend the breakfast in his place. Appointment to Civil Service Board. On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes and unanimously passed, Mr. Van A. Crouter was appointed to the Civil Service Board to fill the unexpired term of Mr. H. Vernon Felt. It was mentioned that Mr. Felt had moved out of town, and therefore a new member to the Board would have to be appointed. Ordering New Equipment: City Attorney Hutton stated that at a previous Council Meeting the Council gave Staff authoriza- tion to order some special equipment for the Finance Department. Mr. Hutton advised the equipment is such that it would seem there is only one supplier for this item, and he suggested, therefore, that the Council require specs for the equipment. Mr. Huffaker stated this matter will again be brought before the Council at the next regular Council Meeting, and it can be discussed in more detail at that time. Mr. Hutton said this would be satisfactory. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, on motion of Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and unanimously passed, Mayor Huntoon adjourned the meeting at 8:21 p. m.
