In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Colton was held on the above given date at 5:30 p.m. , in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Beltran presiding.
Manager Calabrese, City Attorney Edwards, Finance Director Holt, Assistant to the City Manager Johnsen, and City
Clerk Ramos.
BUDGET:
Recreation
City Manager Calabrese reported that the Recreation Budget had been delayed the last time it came before the Council
to allow for further review by him and the department head. Mr. Calabrese stated the review has been completed and
a total budget of $54,498.00 is recommended.
Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Gonzales, to tentatively approve the Recreation Budget.
Unanimous vote.
Refuse
Community Services Director Young presented the Refuse Budget, saying the table of organization remains the same,
capital outlay consists of the traditional purchase of bins, a radio, and a conversion kit with monies to purchase the
truck from the Water Division. Mr. Young said the rest of the budget remains relatively unchanged.
Councilman Rehrer asked how is :Line item 93 going to be taken care of, since a determination on whether or not the
truck in the Water Division will be disposed of has not been made. Councilman Rehrer added that if Refuse didn't
acquire the truck, it would not need the lift.
Mayor Beltran asked Mr. Young how the truck could be used in the Refuse Division and yet not be good enough for the
Water Division.
Mr. Young replied the use of the struck in the Refuse Division would be for delivery and pickup of commercial bins and
would not be used for hauling heavy loads on an 8 hour basis, such as in the Water Division.
Discussion followed on the actual cost of a conversion kit vs. the amount requested in the budget.
Mayor Beltran moved to delete line item 93, purchase of truck and conversion kit, from the budget. Seconded by
Councilman Rehrer.
Discussion followed on 60 commercial accounts being serviced by private contractors, with Mr. Young stating the
City has the capability of serving all commercial accounts with the exception of the slide -off bin accounts. Mr. Young
reported approximately 12 commercial accounts have the slide -off bins.
