288 Mr. Abril replied no, and the people participating in the project are all volunteers and are willing -to do anything necessary -to make it successful. Mr. Abril said he is sure everyone will work hard at maintaining centers. Mr. Abril and Mr. Lofy said there has been a tremendous response to this project, -the community has selected Mr. Joe Acosta to work with -them as their leader in -the northern section and Mr. Oscar Ramirez will work in -the southern section. Mr. Abril said the project will encompass the entire community even though Luque Center will be home base for convenience and practical purposes of storage facilities. Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Mayor Gonzales -to approve the proposal submitted by -the Veterans Memorial Committee for use of Revenue Sharing Funds in the amount of $32,000. Unanimous vote. Library City Librarian Martine Hornburg requested an increase in the hourly wage of -the Library Page positions. Discussion followed. Council consensus was to increase -the hourly wage to $2.90. City Librarian Hornburg requested an increase in the Travel & Meetings Account to allow the Library Board to attend various conferences. Ms. Hornburg also requested an increase to $I,500 from $I,000 in the Office Supplies & Postage Account, and -the sum of $1,180 for Vehicle Allowance. Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Temby to -tentatively approve the Library Budget with -the amendments requested. Unanimous vote. Council Members present were Hayes, Cisneros, Rehrer, Temby, and Mayor Gonzales. Also present were City Manager Calabrese, City Attorney Edwards, Finance Director Helsley and City Clerk Ramos. BUDGET: Community Services Administration Councilman Rehrer asked how the City was doing in its recruitment for City Engi- neer. City Manager Calabrese responded that the City has, by direction of the City Council, recruited for the position of Community Services Director without the requirement of a Civil Engineer Degree.
