I
HELEN A. R MOS, CMC
City Clerk
City of Colton
Approved this 7th day of October, 1986.
ADJOURNED COUNCIL MEETING
October 71, 1986
259
In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular
Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the
above given date at 6:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall,
Mayor Huntoon presiding.
City Manager Benest reviewed his memorandum regarding the proposed
renovation of City Hall in conjunction with the Centennial celebra-
tion, outlining the cost options, A - $133,423, or $22 per square
foot; B - $181,575, or $30 per square foot; and C - $320,835, or
$54 per square foot. Mr. Benest advised since Staff has cut the total
equipment and capital outlay budget for the City, the total City budget
would not have to be increased to implement the renovation.
Mr. Benest concluded Staff recommends that the City Council approve
one of the cost options based on the level of renovation needed and
authorize Eckhardt Associates to proceed with the design work.
Chelo Eckhardt, Secretary/Treasurer of Consuelo Eckhardt Associates,
Inc., made a brief presentation to the Council Members, outlining the
three major public service areas within City Hall, indicating the major
problems and necessary improvements. Miss Eckhardt then reviewed cost
options A, B, and C, recommending that the City go with Option C, as
this was the most cost-effective.
Councilman Rios asked when was the last time that City Hall had been
renovated.
Councilman Rehrer stated he recalled that City Hall had been painted
approximately 6 years ago.
Mayor Huntoon asked why the City had not gone out to bid on these items.
City Manager Benest explained this is a professional services item,
wherein we obtain proposals, evaluate them, and then enter into a con-
tract for the services. Mr. Benest stated the City will do their own
purchasing and coordinating, and then contract for the services.
r Miss Eckhardt stated they would be providing design drawings and specs
that the City can choose from.
Councilman Rehrer stated he would be in agreement with Option C. Mr.
Rehrer stated if the City is going to renovate City Hall, then lets do
it right, and get it done. Mr. Rehrer stated he would, however, like to
see something done with the City Hall roof before any of the renovating
is started.
0 CT 7 1986
ROLL
CALL:
Council
Members present were Rios, Rehrer,
Garcia, and Mayor Huntoon.
Also
present were City Manager Benest,
City Attorney Edwards, and
Deputy
City Clerk Veralrud.
