1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-03-17 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON AMENDING PORTIONS OF CHAPTER 18.50 OF <br />TITLE 18 OF THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING <br />TO SIGNS AND AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP <br />TO ESTABLISH A BUSINESS DISTRICT SIGN OVERLAY <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton desires to amend certain provisions <br />of the Colton Zoning Code and Official Zoning Map in order to provide for certain off - <br />premises signs and adopt other minor amendments to clarify sign standards and the <br />administration thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, all prerequisites to the adoption of this ordinance have occurred. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Incomoration of Recitals. The City Council hereby adopts all the recitals <br />and findings set forth above and in the agenda report prepared in connection with this <br />Ordinance. <br />SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Colton hereby amends Chapter 18.50 of <br />the Colton Municipal Code to read as follows: <br />Chapter 18.50 - SIGNS* <br />Sections: <br />18.50.010 - Purpose. <br />The City recognizes that Signs and other graphics are an essential element of a community's <br />visual appearance. They also provide a means to identify and promote Businesses and are an <br />important element in creating safer Public Streets and Highways. Consequently, the purpose of <br />this chapter is to provide Sign regulations that are consistent with the goals and objectives of <br />the General Plan and the community's visual and aesthetic goals. In addition, these regulations <br />are intended to: <br />A. Promote an economically stable and visually attractive community and insure that the <br />special character and image the City is striving for can be attained; <br />B. Promote Signs and graphics that are attractive, pleasing and harmonized with the <br />physical character of the environment and surrounding Properties, while serving the <br />advertising needs of the Business community; <br />C. Promote traffic safety and the smooth and efficient flow of Pedestrians and Vehicles <br />to their destinations; <br />D. Direct Persons to various activities and enterprises, in order to provide for maximum <br />public convenience. <br />1 <br />
