<br /> <br /> ITEM NO. 11 <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: DECEMBER 1, 2020 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: BILL SMITH, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: CAROLINA PADILLA, CITY CLERK/ELECTIONS OFFICIAL <br />SUBJECT: RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPT <br />RESOLUTION R-108-20, CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF THE <br />GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 2020, <br />WHICH WAS CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL <br />ELECTION, RESOLUTION R-108-20 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: <br />It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution R-108-20, certifying the results of the <br />General Municipal Election held on November 3, 2020, which was consolidated with t he <br />Statewide General Election. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />In accordance with City of Colton’s status as a general law City, elections are held every two <br />years. At the June 2, 2020 Council meeting the City Council approved Resolution No. R -54-20, <br />calling and giving notice of the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Colton, and <br />election of certain officers of the City; <br /> <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />The San Bernardino County of Registrar of Voters conducted the elections at the City’s request; <br />has completed a canvas of the votes; and has provide certification of those results which is <br />included as Exhibit “A” to the resolution. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACTS <br />The estimate cost from the Registrar of Voters (ROV) is approximately $70,000 - $100,000. <br />Election Expense Account No. 100-6010-6010-2401 has $75,000. The invoice is expected <br />approximately ninety (90) days after the Certification of Election by ROV (March 2020) or no <br />later than the end of Fiscal Year 2020-2021.
