CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 4, 1996 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: NABAR ENRIQUE MARTINEZ, CITY MANAGERP� <br />FROM: GRACIE FERNANDEZ HARMON, PERSONNEL DIRECTOR C' <br />SUBJECT: RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL- <br />TIME POSITION OF FIRE ENGINEER IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: December 20, 1995 <br />BACKGROUND: One (1) vacant Fire Engineer position is anticipated in the Fire Department. <br />This position will become vacant on January 3, 1996 due to employee promotion to the Fire <br />Captain position. The job description for the classification is attached; salary range is $2,708 - <br />$3,293 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position was conducted from October 24, <br />1995 to November 7, 1995. Written and practical examinations were held in November and <br />December 1995. An eligibility list was established on December 12, 1995. This appointment <br />will be made effective January 6, 1996 and is contingent upon the incumbent's promotion to the <br />Fire Captain position on January 3, 1996. The candidate being referred for Council ratification <br />meets the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is a general fund position and is budgeted for the 1995-96 fiscal <br />year. <br />h►/ I t l ,2101 DilzY 10 VAN M611 <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council ratify the employee appointment to the full-time <br />position of Fire Engineer as recommended by the Fire Chief. <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Prepared by: Arleen F.
