ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MINUTES COLTON CITY COUNCIL JUNE 30, 1997 In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above date, at 5:15 P. M., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, with Mayor Gaytan presiding. FLAG SALUTE Mayor Gaytan invited Chief of Police Bernie Lunsford to lead the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. INVOCATION Rev. Bob Johnson offered the invocation. ROLL CALL Present were Councilmember Don Sanders, Councilmember Kelly Chastain, Councilmember Betty Cook, Councilmember Deirdre Bennett, Councilmember David Sandoval and Mayor Karl Gaytan. Absent was Councilmember John Hutton. Also present were Acting City Manager Harmon, City Attorney Biggs, and Deputy City Clerk Delgado. PUBLIC COMMENT No requests received. STAFF REPORTS CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Budget Session Acting City Manager Harmon indicated that changes discussed on June 23, 1997, had been incorporated in the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 1997-98, submitted for City Council's approval. Motion and second by Mayor Gaytan and CM Sandoval for approval of the proposed budget for FY 1997-98. Discussion had regarding one code enforcement officer position and a $350,000 increase to the Wastewater budget. On the position, Finance Director Vega explained that staff was directed to eliminate all new positions and she said the City cannot generate sufficient fees to cover the position. Community Development Director Zamora stated that currently there were three code enforcement officers and it was agreement that an additional code enforcement officer position would be considered if and when sufficient monies were generated through building permits. Director Zamora suggested that this matter be reviewed at mid -year.
