ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />COLTON CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 30, 1997 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City <br />Council of the City of Colton was held on the above date, at 5:15 P. M., in the Council Chambers <br />of City Hall, with Mayor Gaytan presiding. <br />FLAG SALUTE <br />Mayor Gaytan invited Chief of Police Bernie Lunsford to lead the assembly in the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />INVOCATION <br />Rev. Bob Johnson offered the invocation. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present were Councilmember Don Sanders, Councilmember Kelly Chastain, Councilmember <br />Betty Cook, Councilmember Deirdre Bennett, Councilmember David Sandoval and Mayor Karl <br />Gaytan. Absent was Councilmember John Hutton. Also present were Acting City Manager <br />Harmon, City Attorney Biggs, and Deputy City Clerk Delgado. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT No requests received. <br />STAFF REPORTS <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Budget Session <br />Acting City Manager Harmon indicated that changes discussed on June 23, 1997, had been <br />incorporated in the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 1997-98, submitted for City Council's <br />approval. <br />Motion and second by Mayor Gaytan and CM Sandoval for approval of the proposed budget for <br />FY 1997-98. <br />Discussion had regarding one code enforcement officer position and a $350,000 increase to the <br />Wastewater budget. On the position, Finance Director Vega explained that staff was directed to <br />eliminate all new positions and she said the City cannot generate sufficient fees to cover the <br />position. Community Development Director Zamora stated that currently there were three code <br />enforcement officers and it was agreement that an additional code enforcement officer position <br />would be considered if and when sufficient monies were generated through building permits. <br />Director Zamora suggested that this matter be reviewed at mid -year. <br />As to the budget increase, Director Vega said the County informed the City that there had been an <br />City Council Minutes - June 30, 1997 Page 1 <br />
