THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTONt CALIFORNIA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That a Cemetery Commission shall and the same is hereby created for the City of Colton. Section 2. That said Commission shall consist of five members who shall be appointed by the City Council from the citizens of the City of Colton at large. Section 3. That of the members of the first commission to serve under this Ordinance, one shall serve a term of one year; two shall serve terms of two years each; and two shall serve terms of three years each. The terms of the members of the first commission shall be determined by lot as drawn at the first meeting of the commission and be effective as of that date. Their successors shall be appointed for a term of three years each. If a vacancy shall occur otherwise than by expiration of the term, it shall be filled by appointment as in the first incident for the unexpired portion of the term. Section 4. That members of the commission shall organize and choose one of their members as its chairman and elect any other officers that they deem necessary, A Secretary and other assistants need not necessarily be members of the commission. Section 5. The Cemetery Commission shall have the power and duty to: A. Recommend the policies to be adopted and enforced for operation, use and management of Hermosa Cemetery. B. Assist in drafting and submitttng to the City Manager an annual budget for the operation of the Cemetery. C. Recommend policies for the development and improvement of the Municipal Cemetery known as Hermosa Cemetery. Section 6. That this ordinance shall take effect as prescribed by law.
