R-108-90 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON, AMENDING THE PERSONNEL <br />SYSTEM RULES AND REGULATIONS <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Colton, that Rule X, Probationary Period, Section 1 Length of <br />Probationary Period, is hereby amended as follows and shall be <br />effective September 18, 1990: <br />"All regular promotional appointments shall be tentative <br />and subject to a probationary period of eighteen months for <br />police officers, one year for firefighters, department heads <br />and dispatchers, and six months for other employees. In <br />each case, the appointee shall be informed of the length of <br />the probationary period before he begins service. <br />Prior to expiration of an employee's probationary period, <br />the employee's supervisor, with the approval of his department <br />head, shall recommend to the Personnel Officer that one of <br />the following actions be taken: <br />1. Grant the employee permanent status. <br />2. Extend the probationary period for a period not to <br />exceed six months. <br />3. Terminate the employee because of unsatisfactory <br />performance. <br />Employees, whose probationary period has been extended, shall <br />have their salary anniversary date extended by the appropriate <br />period of time. <br />
