HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR 4� I� SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II, IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, STREET DIVISION, PRIOR TO VACANCY DATE: JANUARY 2, 2001 BACKGROUND: Currently there are no vacancies; this would establish an eligibility list for future vacancies that may occur in the Street Division. Attached is the job description for the classification, salary range is $2,267 - $ 2,756 per month. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: One (1) Equipment Operator 11 position in the Street Division could become vacant. Mr. Dave Madsen, Equipment Operator II (Street Sweeper) Stormwater Division has informed us that he will be resigning in March from the City of Colton, to relocate in Wyoming. With Mr. Madsen's pending resignation Mr. Richard Carrion, Equipment Operator II Street Division has indicated that he would be interested in a lateral transfer into the Stormwater Division. (Mr. Carrion is the relief Street Sweeper Operator and is familiar with the Street Sweeping routes). If his request is approved, this would create a vacancy in the Street Division. The candidate being referred for Council ratification will meet all the requirements as specified in the job description. This position will be an open recruitment. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: NONE FINANCIAL IMPACT: This is an approved general fund position in the Fiscal Year 2000-2001 budget.
