GARCIA, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: AL HOLLIMAN, FINANCE DIRECTOR` h'a <br />SUBJECT: AWARD A BID #P006 FOR EXTRICATION DEVICE (JAWS OF LIFE) FOR THE FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT TO DIAMONDBACK FIRE & RESCUE IN THE AMOUNT OF $18,689.41 <br />DATE: APRIL 9, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the Council Meeting of February 6, 2001, the City Council approved the acceptance of a California State <br />Business Transportation and Housing Agency Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) grant for the purchase of an <br />Amkus Hydraulic Extrication Tool. The purchase of this tool will allow us to retire an extrication tool that has <br />been in service since 1976. The grant amount is $20,302 <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />On March 15, 2001, Purchasing solicited sealed bids for an Amkus Extrication Device. Three bid packages <br />were mailed to distributors of this device. The bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., April 5, 2001, in the <br />Purchasing Office. Two bids were received and evaluated as follows: <br />Diamondback Fire & Rescue — Temecula, CA $18,689.41 <br />Amkus Inc., Downers Grove, IL $21,058.28 <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The funds received through this grant will be added to Revenue Account #100-5783, (Miscellaneous Grants) <br />and will be expended from Account #100-6090-6091-4930 (Miscellaneous Capital Equipment). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />Item #8 <br />
