1 RESOLUTION NO. 2532 <br /> 2 <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Colton and its immediate environs are sub- <br /> 3 <br /> jected to flood hazards of mainstream Santa Ana River origin as well as from <br /> 4 <br /> the South Rialto Channel, an old main channel water course, and Reche <br /> 5 <br /> Canyon, and <br /> 6 <br /> 7 WHEREAS, these streams ,constitute a serious menance to life and <br /> great property damage to the rapidly developing area including two major <br /> 8 <br /> interstate highways, three major transcontinental railways, oil tank farms <br /> 9 <br /> of the major interstate oil pipe line utilities, and numerous major industries, <br /> 10 <br /> and <br /> 11 <br /> WHEREAS, the San Bernardino County Flood Control Distri,ct has <br /> 12 <br /> recommended certain improvements for these streams in which the City of <br /> 13 <br /> Rialto concurs. <br /> 14 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Colton in coordination with the San <br /> 15 <br /> Bernardino County Flood Control District urgently requests that the United <br /> 16 <br /> States Army Corps of Engineers, without delay, proceed with studies, (1) <br /> 17 <br /> of the Santa Ana River leading to project authorization and construction of <br /> 18 <br /> levee improvements between the San Bernardino Riverside County Line and <br /> 19 <br /> the confluence of Warm Creek with the Santa Ana River; and (2) of the South <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Rialto Channel to provide channel improvement from the Santa Ana River <br /> 22 upstream; and (3) of Reche Canyon Creek to provide debris retention <br /> 23 facilities and downstream channels to outlet to the Santa Ana River. <br /> PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of February, 1965. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 <br /> 26 yor <br /> 27 ATTEST: <br /> ti <br /> 28 ,� E - C.. - .-? <br /> L.C,ity -Clerk r� <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> I 32 <br />
