Item #5
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 15, 2002
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: AMER JAHKER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION RESTRICTING PARKING DURING HOURS OF
STREET SWEEPING OPERATIONS ON CERTAIN STREETS
DATE: October 1, 2002
BACKGROUND:
Residents of certain areas of the City have requested that parking be restricted during hours of street
sweeping operation in order to allow the sweeper to adequately clean the street. The affected streets
are Agua Caliente Lane, De Carmen Drive, Trujillo Lane, De Anza Drive, and Cantera Street.
ANALYSIS/DISCUS SION:
The street sweeper currently has to maneuver around any parked vehicle leaving large sections of
the street unaffected. This action will cause the streets to be free of automobiles during street
sweeping operation and provide for a cleaner neighborhood.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The initial cost to implement this program is approximately $600.00 for the installation of 4 signs.
There is additional cost in the continued enforcement. That cost could be potentially be offset by
revenues derived from any citations issued.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council approve the attached resolution, authorizing the restriction of
parking during hours of street sweeping operation.
Attachments:
Resolution/Plats
Report prepared by Brian Baden, Engineering Technician II
