CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 7, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE/COMPLETION FOR THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE TRAINING TOWER PROJECT. <br />DATE: JANUARY 25, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On November 16, 2004, the City Council authorized the award of contract to Horizons CCI <br />Services, Inc. for construction of the Fire Training Tower located at Fire Station No. 1. The <br />project's scope of work involved the installation of a foundation and construction of an elevated <br />steel structure to include four (4) floor levels, with interior stairs, under a flat roof. This project <br />replaced the old Fire Department Training Tower that was originally built in 1957 by Fire <br />Department personnel. The original tower was constructed without the benefit of engineered <br />plans, nor reviewed for compliance with existing building codes. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The total contract amount of the project is $262,475. At the request of Fire Department staff, <br />additional work was added to the scope for additional safety in the amount of $4,116. The scope <br />of the additional works included adding 12' parapet wall opening, rappelling rail, structural <br />support and safety chains. <br />Horizons CCI Services, Inc. completed the project satisfactorily, in the total amount of $266,591. <br />This amount was 1.50% higher than the contract amount as a result of the requested Change <br />Order listed above. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Exact Business Name: Horizons CCI Services, Inc. <br />President or equal: Hatem Ibrahim <br />Contact or representative: Kinan Kotrash <br />
