ITEM #13 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 15, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE THE EXECUTION AND RECORDATION OF THE <br />NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE LA CADENA DRIVE- <br />BARTON ROAD ASPHALT PAVING PROJECT. <br />DATE: AUGUST 7, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On May 16, 2006, the City Council awarded a construction agreement to Roquet Paving, Inc. for <br />the La Cadena Drive -Barton Road Intersection Asphalt Paving Project. The awarded agreement <br />totaled $49,710. The Project's scope of work was to grind and overlay 2" of asphalt with <br />pavement fabrics. This paving project provided needed improvements to the intersection of S. La <br />Cadena Drive and Barton Road needed to complete the on-going Traffic Signalization at S. La <br />Cadena Drive and Barton Road Intersection Project. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />Roquet Paving, Inc. completed the project satisfactorily, in the total amount of $54,678. This <br />amount was higher than the contract amount of $49,710 as a result of the Change Order requested <br />by the City in the amount of $4,968.00 (10% of contract amount). The Change Order provided the <br />project with additional asphalt paving needed to complete a new geometric design required for the <br />installation of the new traffic signal on the intersection of La Cadena Drive and Barton Road. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The proposed public improvements are exempt under Section 15301 of the California <br />Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST <br />Exact Business Name: Roquet Paving, Inc. <br />President or equal: Joe Roquet <br />Contact or representative: Joe Roquet <br />
