CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 4, 2008 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: DARYL PARRISH, CITY MANAGERk`OV- SUBJECT: DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION REGARDING INVESTIGATION OF GRIFFIN PROPERTY AND PROPOSED COUNTY REGIONAL PARK DATE: FEBRUARY 28, 2008 DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS In August 2006, the Griffin Family Trust purchased 27 acres within the configuration of the County Regional Park project area. At the February 5, 2008 Council meeting, Councilmember Toro commented on the need for an investigation into the conditions under which the above property was purchased. At the February 19, 2008 meeting, Council directed staff to bring back the issue for Council discussion and direction. FINANCIAL IMPACT The financial impact for this matter depends on the City Council's direction. If the direction is to hire an external investigator, a contract could be initially negotiated for not -to -exceed $25,000 under the City Manager's authority and if costs exceed this amount staff will bring a contract back to Council for approval. If council elects to use an external investigator and since funds for this task are not budgeted, staff recommends approval of the attached resolution to increase the City Council Professional Services budget by $25,000.
