STAFF REPORT <br />ITEM NO. 05 <br />DATE: AUGUST 3, 2010 <br />TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: BILL SMITH, COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR /, -'I <br />SUBJECT: FACILITY NAMING APPLICATION — JERRY & SHEILA RIOS <br />FIELD <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve Resolution R-57-10, attaching the name "Jerry <br />& Sheila Rios Field" to the northeastern or `B" ball field at Elizabeth Davis Park. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to effectively process facility naming <br />applications received from the public, in accordance with City policy, as set by Resolution R-86- <br />09. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City has received an Application for the Naming of Parks, Park Features, or Community <br />Facilities, from Gary Grossich. This application calls for the naming of the northeastern or `B" <br />ball field at Elizabeth Davis Park. The proposed name is "Jerry & Sheila Rios Field." A copy of <br />the application, as well as supporting material provided by the applicant, is attached to this <br />report. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />The application has been processed in accordance with Resolution R-86-09, including all posting <br />and noticing requirements. The Recreation & Parks Commission considered the application at <br />its regular meeting of July 21, 2010. After discussion, the Commission voted 5-0 to forward a <br />recommendation to City Council that it approve the application. According to Resolution R-86- <br />09, the final decision on the application rests with City Council. <br />
