VEGA, FINANCE DIRECTOO�� <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR CIRCUIT BREAKER ANALYZER TO VANGUARD <br />INSTRUMENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,847.86 AUTHORIZE STAFF TO CARRY <br />FORWARD THE FUNDS FROM THE 1995-96 FISCAL YEAR <br />A circuit breaker analyzer was approved in the FY 1995-96 budget for the Electric Department. On June <br />18, 1996, Purchasing solicited sealed bids for this analyzer. Bid opening was held at 1:00 p.m., June 27, <br />1996. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />Two bids were received and evaluated. The low bid was received from Fine Point Marketing in the <br />amount of $13,734.89. it does not meet the City's bid specification. The specification requires a PC <br />based software for reports and data base utility. The analyzer that they are proposing does not include <br />the software. The second bid was received from Vanguard Instruments in the amount of $13,847.86. <br />This bid meets all of the City's specifications. The difference in the two bids is $112.97. Staff is <br />recommending award to the second low bidder. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The circuit breaker analyzer was approved in the FY 1995-96 budget and funds are available in account <br />20-9713-89. Staff is recommending that the Council carry forward the funds into FY1996-97 for this <br />p se. <br />Thomas K.
