HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />le— <br />Loll <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE THE AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION FOR <br />SUBMITTAL OF PROJECTS FOR 1998/2405 REGIONAL <br />TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM TO <br />SAN BERNARDINO ASSOCIATED GOVERNMEN'T'S <br />DATE: MARCH 24,1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The San Bernardino Associated Governments, (SANBAG) has requested the <br />submittal of projects proposed for inclusion in the 1998/2005 Regional <br />Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP). <br />As part of the update system for the 1998/2005 Regional Transportation <br />Improvement Program, each jurisdiction is to evaluate and amend their current <br />project lists. Each project submitted must be regionally significant and involve <br />federal funds. The RTIP program is developed to promote net work planning among <br />the various public agencies. In order for a project to be eligible for Federal -Aid <br />funds, it must be included in the current RTIP. The Federal Highway Administration <br />will review the proposed RTIP to ensure that it is fiscally constrained. <br />SUMMARY: <br />Staff has catalogued and reviewed twenty projects to propose for inclusion in the <br />new 1998/2005 RTIP, list of projects attached for reference. The individual project <br />forms are available in the Public Works office for review. <br />Staff has prepared the Resolution that authorizes the submittal of projects for <br />1998-2005 Regional Transportation Improvement Program.. <br />Item No. 13 <br />
