FREEMAN, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: TOM HENDRIX, ACTING FIRE CHIS <br />SUBJECT: Public Hearing to Discuss the City's Weed Abatement Program <br />DATE: April 2, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Annually, each spring and fall, the Fire Department administers the City's Weed Abatement <br />Program. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The City's Weed Abatement Program is conducted in two parts: <br />• Spring - with the primary emphasis on weeds and annual grasses and; <br />• Fall - with the primary emphasis on tumbleweeds <br />At this time, the City is entering into the Spring Program. Notices have been sent and abatement <br />proceedings are scheduled to begin May 15, 1997. <br />In addition, a public hearing is required to hear any objections by property owners who may <br />be assessed for the abatement. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None <br />Pagel of 2 <br />Item No. 22 <br />
