CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For the City Council Meeting of June 17, 1997 <br />U: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br />Approval: Gracie Fernandez Harmon, Acting City Manager <br />From: Timothy R Wilson, P.E.; A,I.A., City Engineer's Office <br />Subject: Approve Final Acceptance/Notice of Completion for the Proposition 116 City <br />Wide Bicycle Lane Project in the City of Colton <br />Date: June 10, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Colton Proposition Bikelane project consists of a Citywide portion comprising 20 miles of bikelane <br />(Class 2 or 3). The Citywide Bicycle lane project was constructed with the cooperation of the City and Caltrans <br />State and District 8 Local Assistance and is fully reimbursable. In March the California Transportation <br />Commission approved a reduced budget which excluded Agua Mansa Road.. <br />The City Council authorized eonstruction.bids and awarded construction to Matich Corporation at an estimated <br />cost of $38,393.00. During the course of work, 2 change orders were approved for additional work on this <br />project. The Change Order amounts are as follows: <br />1. $ 22,771.00 -Reinstating Bikelane Street Improvements on Barton Road, which were removed by <br />Contract Addendum prior to bid. <br />2. $ 4,927.30 - Additional striping and signage determined necessary in the field. <br />3. $ 13.40 - Asphalt Pavement related quantity variation (within 10% considered normal) <br />The total amount of Change Orders totals $27,711.70. The total cost for the project was $66,104,70, The final <br />project cost is within the allotment and 100% reimbursable by the State of California. <br />SUMMA-RY__ <br />The contractor has completed the work as specified in the contract on June 10, 1997. The records -indicated that <br />this project was completed within the allowable working days. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The project is funded with Proposition 116 Bikeway System Project Funds and are 100% reimbursable yap to June <br />30, 1997. These funds were approved by the C.T.0 California Transportation Commission on March 5, 1997 up <br />to the an amount of $172,048.00. Requests for reimbursements must be submitted and approved by Caltrans this <br />month and this requires payment of the Contractor in full prior to July 1, 1997 (this includes payment of the 10% <br />retention prior to July 1 1997 and prior to the standard waiting period if reimbursement by the State is expected.) <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />• Staff recommends that City Council approve the Construction Changc Orders Number 1 and 2 in the amount <br />of $27, 711.70. <br />• Staff recommends final acceptance of the Proposition 116 Citywide Bicycle Lane Project in the amount of <br />$66,104.70 and authorize finalizing a Notice of Completion for this -project. <br />• Staff recommends that Council approve the execution and recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br />Item No. 14. <br />
