Drews Substation Project <br />DATE: April 13, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND <br />As the City Council is aware, Black & Veatch was awarded an Engineering, Procurement, and <br />Construction (EPC) contract in the amount of $9,426,716 for the substation project. The contract called <br />for Black & Veatch to procure all materials and construct a new substation, transmission line, and <br />distribution line to serve the County Hospital and other electrical load in the area. <br />DISCUSSION / ANALYSIS <br />All the work has been completed per the contract. The Gale A. Drews Substation has now been <br />energized and electric service to the County Hospital has commenced. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None as this is reimbursement to Black & Veatch for project costs they have incurred and payment for <br />services they have already provided. <br />FINANCIAL <br />Black & Veatch confirmed and paid for all the material to the vendors and labor to the contractors. They <br />provided to Staff copies of the lien releases from the major contractors. As retention, the City had <br />withheld paying Black & Veatch $20,000 from the total invoiced. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />That the City Council approves the release of the $20,000 retention and the recordation of the Notice of <br />Completion with the County of San Bernardino for the Gale A.
