G cia, City Manage k--�— FROM: Patrick , Acting Chief of Police SUBJECT: Proposed Amendments to Chapter 10.04.105 of the Colton Municipal Code Concerning the Parking of Commercial Vehicles in Residential Zones DATE: April 9, 1998 BACKGROUND: The City currently restricts the parking of trailers or truck/tractor with trailers and semi -trailers attached or trucks with load capacity over one ton on public streets in residential districts. The section does not apply to recreational vehicles, including travel trailers and motor homes. Staff finds that the code does not cover some commercial vehicles such as busses used for commercial purposes under this code. Staff believes that by replacing the current wording in section 10.9 with the following wording will clarify the issue and make enforcement equitable. The new section will read: Section 10.9 - Parking in Residential Districts. Parking a trailer or a truck/tractor with a trailer or semi -trailer attached or a truck with a load capacity over one ton on a public street or the parking or standing on any street or portion thereof of a commercial vehicle having manufacturers gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more, including busses and recreational vehicles use for commercial purposes, as defined in Section 260 of the California Vehicle Code, in a residential district is prohibited. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: This is not a project pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act. FISCAL EUPACT: None Patrick G.
